CHERP is the Campus Honors Environmental Research Project at the University of Missouri - St. Louis (UMSL) Pierre Laclede Honors College ( www.umsl.edu/divisions/honors/ ). We offer undergraduate courses in Urban Ecology where we use project-based learning to explore environmental concepts by studying the ecologies of campus and adjacent St. Vincent County Park. The students are compiling biological surveys to aid restoration ecology land use.

We introduce high school students to environmental learning and conservation / green careers with an active Exploring Post. Explorers do hands-on conservation as they learn about urban parks and ecology.

CHERP is a partnership between UMSL, state conservation agencies and local government, and our community. Campus partners: College of Education and Division of Teaching and Learning, Department of Biology, Continuing Education, University Extension Service. Agencies and Institutions: St Louis County Parks, Missouri Department of Conservation, Forest Park Forever, www.LearningForLife.org, Natural Resources Conservation Service. School Districts: Normandy, Ferguson-Florissant, Parkville. University System: School of Natural Resources, UM Columbia.
