Great Kids Farm is owned by the Baltimore Public School system. It is a growing resource for nutritional and agricultural education that sustains itself by growing and harvesting food for the public through Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) and farmers markets. Join the mailing list to receive event updates, and volunteers are welcome. The work of Great Kids Farm focuses on three interconnected areas:
1) Educating Young People about where their food comes from and the value of making healthy food choices. At Great Kids Farm, young people participate in daily activities and taste the harvest; teachers gain access to an outdoor, living classroom; and older students develop career skills and grow as young leaders.
2)Raising Farm to Fork Awareness by connecting families to the benefits of eating healthy food; facilitating community and schoolyard gardens; bringing together teachers, parents, and community members for training and networking; and celebrating the farm to school movement through the media and public speaking.
3) Harvesting for the Community by supplying our diverse crops to classrooms, local restaurants and neighborhoods through a community supported agriculture (CSA) program and farmers markets. These sales help make our programs more sustainable.
