This map is intended to promote local, independently-owned businesses and public art exhibitions that are interested in supporting their communities by considering the environment in their decisions, doing their best to utilize local resources and/or reinvesting in the city of Syracuse. I hope that this map will encourage Syracusans to keep as much commerce, energy and talent flowing throughout the city as possible instead of out, making a better place for everyone to live. Sustainability, in this context, is utilizing Syracuse's assets instead of trying to find something elsewhere. Most importantly, I would hope this map will provide a springboard for discussion on sustainability and provide a network of neighbors from which connections can derive.
