The Waldorf School of Baltimore is a coeducational day school for nursery through 12th grade. The school is conveniently located on a scenic North Baltimore campus immediately south of Northern Parkway close to Sinai Hospital and Cylburn Arboretum. A community of nearly 200 students, the Waldorf School draws from urban, rural, and suburban communities in and around Baltimore.
The Waldorf School of Baltimore educates children to think deeply, flexibly, and imaginatively. By bringing together the realm of thinking with the expressiveness of the arts, music, and movement, we foster the child's natural curiosity and sense of wonder while stimulating intellectual awareness. Within a protective and nurturing environment, teachers and staff work in partnership with parents to build a community in which each child's sense of responsibility and self-reliance unfold.

The Waldorf School of Baltimore became a Maryland Green School in the spring of 2010! Its program is so experientially-based that kids are interacting with nature all of the time. From zero-waste events ... to outdoor play every day... to organic gardening ... to camping ... to community service projects ... to site-based studies, environmental education goes beyond book learning. This fall the school welcomed new neighbors - a hive of 80,000 honey bees. How sweet!
I'm an alumna parent and love to watch this school get better and better...and greener and greener.

In 2012 the Waldorf School of Baltimore is adding an Experimental Composting Program - students collect composting materials from the school's gardens and the food waste from lunch and events. The waste is distributed between four alternative composting systems: a demonstration bio-digester; insulated tumblers; outdoor wooden composting bins; worm bins. The students are responsible for collecting the composting material. They measure waste and the by-products of composting, comparing the benefits of each approach. Hands-on learning, in the messiest sense!
