The painting "Division of the Rose"is an interesting painting that shows how the castle looked like in the 16th century. But if you know the story behind it, it will be even more interesting.
It shows how Lord Vítek, who ruled the entire southern part of Bohemia by the late 12th century, divided his land to his 5 sons. Interestingly, he divided the coats of arms by giving each son a different coloured five-petalled rose.
Here is how the land and the coats of arms were divided;
*Jindřich - the town of Hradec & a golden rose on a blue background
*Vilěm - the land between Landštejn Castle and the city of Třeboň & a white rose on a red background
*Smil - Nové Hrady, Stráž nad Nežárkou and Bystřicí & a blue rose on a gold background
*Vok - the castles of Rosenberg and Krumlov & a red rose on a white field
* Sezima - Ústí & a black rose on a golden background
It is said that Vok was Vítek's favorite. Maybe that is why he received the red colour, the original colour.

*Jindřich - Hradec
* Sezima - Ústí
