Die Alpen haben u.a. als Lebensraum für Pflanzen und Tiere aber auch als Wasserspeicher eine globale Bedeutung. Ihre biologische Vielfalt ist einzigartig, aber auch bedroht: Der Klimawandel, fortschreitende Erschließungen und zunehmender Verkehr gefährden ihr sensibles Ökosystem. Ein Schwerpunkt unseres Engagements ist es daher, ihre Einzigartigkeit zu bewahren und Bergsport und Naturschutz in Einklang zu bringen. Als bundesweit anerkannter Naturschutzverband kümmert sich der DAV um naturverträglichen Bergsport in den Alpen und den deutschen Mittelgebirgen.
