Unverified information about the historic High Tor Vineyards:
On the southern slopes of High Tor Mountain, in Centenary (a hamlet in the town of Clarkstown), Everett Crosby planted a variety of grapes and produced some excellent wines 1950-1989. He sold the vineyard in the early 1970's and published "The Vintage Years: The Saga of High Tor Vineyards." The 54-acre vineyard acquired by The Scenic Hudson Land Trust was added to the 500-acre High Tor State Park. The property is managed by the Palisades Interstate Park Commission (PIPC).
