Bayou Oaks Community Garden
Vue d'ensemble
Community gardens provide a place for individuals to raise vegetables, fruits and herbs, even if there is not enough space or soil nearby your home. Gardeners can improve their families’ health and nutrition while reducing food costs. Community gardens also benefit the neighborhoods where they are located by utilizing open space and promoting a sense of community pride.
Bayou Oaks is Sarasota County's northern-most community garden located near Sarasota International Airport. Participants from the surrounding northwest Sarasota County and southern Manatee County areas enjoy the fruits of this garden. With 18 plots, it is located at a City of Sarasota Park, adjacent to a fire-truck themed park laced with lovely old Live Oak trees.
For information about obtaining a plot, contact Stacy Spriggs, Community and School Gardens Coordinator, 941-861-9815 or sspriggs@scgov.net.
