Glyfada Farmer's Market
Overview
The "Laiki agora" or "people's market" is the Greek equivalent to the Greenmarket. The market is usually open one day per week and sells a variety of local Greek food products including fruits, vegetables, honey, fish, and more. Local farmers travel to different markets within Athens selling their products, most of which are grown according to organic standards. There are only a few stands within the markets that are certified organic, or in Greek terms, "biological." Most Greeks prefer the markets over supermarkets because of the food's superior taste, freshness, and quality.
