Historical Feature

Overview

No votes yet

Built 1885-1895, the house has a cottage form with carpenter Gothic mill work on the porch and eaves. The dominate feature is the two story porch, which covers two sides and fully encloses the tower located at the north corner. The tapered Y-beam supports the porch roof and creates the effect of a series of round arches; the curving motif is repeated in textual ornament on the timbered gable. The 2 1/2 story house has a T-plan with a a towner, walls covered in clapboard and shingles, roof with intersecting gable and pyramidal sections, three bay asymmetrical windows, and a double front doorway.
