Liberty Science Center
Overview
As far as science museums go, the Liberty Science Center is a monster. At 300,000 square feet, the Science Center houses 12 exhibition halls, a live collection of animals with over 100 species, aquariums, a 3D theater, and the nation’s largest IMAX dome theater. You can experience live simulcast surgeries as well as tornado and hurricane wind simulators here. The facility also has K-12 classrooms, labs, and teacher development programs. The Center is located at Liberty State Park on the banks of the Hudson River overlooking the Statue of Liberty. More than a half a million visitors a year come to participate in the Center’s programs.
