MNANDI is a day-resort with excellent facilities, including a large freshwater pool with waterslides, landscaped lawns with playground apparatus, picnic tables and braai sites, as well as long sandy beaches that are good for walking and fishing. During peak periods in summer, lifesavers keep watch over a stretch of beach that is safe for swimming. This beach also offers scenic views of the Wolfgat Nature Reserve’s limestone cliffs. Mnandi was reserved for Blacks during the apartheid era. Its name can be translated as ‘lovely, just right’. A little way offshore is a rocky outcrop known as Kapteinsklip, which means ‘captain’s stone’.
