Park design has moved into the 21st century, with greater awareness of community needs, effective organisation of space and sustainability. City Parks is adopting this new approach through its Smart Parks project. Vital components of smart parks are choice of location, integration with other community facilities, and the delivery of high-quality, sustainable amenities. Communities can choose their preferred facilities from an approved ‘kit of parts’ manual. These parks will be rolled out in areas of greatest need over a period of five years.
