It was the official COP17/CMP7 ecosystem offset project for the local component of the event's footprint. Alien plant species are being removed from the area and the area will be be planted with local indigenous tree species. This project will provide the catalyst for the development of a green economy and that ensures poverty alleviation and the protection of biodiversity and the related ecosystem services.
