The Sheridan St. Community Garden is operated by the University of Maryland Extension and serves individuals, families and community groups. This blossoming community garden has over 47 plots, in which gardeners grow food crops such as tomatoes, okra, corn, peppers, and watermelon. Although there is currently a waitlist, one can sign up for a plot in the spring for only $20, which covers the cost of supplies. Trainings are offered several times a year, and monthly work days offer opportunities for community members to come together and maintain public areas.
