Virginia Association of Counties Building
Overview
The Virginia Assocation of Counties building is LEED Gold certified. It has a Green Roof and is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1866, it is one of the few remaining iron-front buildings and is also one of the oldest buildings in downtown Richmond. During the renovation, the heavy timber framing (dating back to 1776) removed to make the elevator shaft was reconditioned into a 17-foot long conference table and pieces of office furniture. All the historic windows were also reconditioned.
