Garden for the Environment
Overview
Founded in 1990, the Garden for the Environment is a half-acre organic garden in San Francisco demonstrating small-scale urban organic food production, organic gardening, low water-use landscaping and urban compost systems.
The Garden for the Environment is open dawn-dusk every day of the year with low-cost, hands-on workshops on Organic Gardening, Sustainable Landscaping and Urban Composting every weekend. GFE also offers a certification program called the 'Garden and Composting Educator Training Program'.
