Centro Artesanal los Dominicos (Artisan Market)
Overview
Centro Artesanal los Dominicos is a craft market located at the foothills of the Andean Mountains and next to San Vicente Ferrer Church (National monument in 1978) in an upper scale area of Las Condes. Founded in 1979 this market took advantage of abandoned constructions made of adobe and started a small market with a small number of artisans. The current owner of the site is the religious order of Los Dominicos that rents the place to Las Condes municipality that is in charge of its administration. Today the market is home for more than 150 artisans, representing a complete showing of Chilean handcraft. The expansion of the market respects the traditional construction in adobe. Although the market is within a considerable distance from the main tourist areas, it is easy to access by Los Dominicos Subway station, with the 1 train.
