More than 25 years ago, a group of local parents and teachers met to discuss their vision for a Christian school in the Venice area. They strongly believed that integration of faith and learning was essential for excellence in education. In the fall of 1987, Venice Christian School (VCS) opened its doors to area students, making their dream a reality.

Today, VCS is fully accredited and recognized as one of the most outstanding private schools in the area, according to the Florida Council of Private Schools. More than 250 students from Sarasota to Port Charlotte attend VCS, from preschool to 12th grade. We have remained an independent, not-for-profit school, with students representing more than 35 area churches.

In our 25 year history, VCS has earned numerous awards and accolades. However, the true measure of our success is how the school is dramatically changing the lives of students and, in turn, impacting our world for Christ. Ultimately, that is what sets the standard for all that we do.

Each of our teachers are handpicked and I know that they have been called by God into this ministry, they are fully certified through the Association of Christian Schools International. We are blessed to have them here at the school. Our school is truly training champions for Jesus Christ. Please call for a tour of the school at 941-496-4411.

Sarasota County’s Neighborhood Environmental Stewardship Team (NEST) program invites you to explore ways you can make your neighborhood a better place for people, wildlife and our water resources. NESTs are voluntary associations of people – neighbors, civic groups, student organizations and others – who want to better understand and improve environmental conditions in their watershed. Sarasota County can help you create your own NEST, or you can join one that already exists, based on your ideas and interest.
