THEN:
For one year, 1838, this was the address of David Ruggles, "Father of the Underground Railroad." As a leader of the Vigilance Committee, he is credited with having helped more than six hundred slaves, including Frederick Douglass, escape to freedom via the railroad.

NOW:
A renovated and well-kept building, you can now enjoy a cup of coffee in the downstairs cafe clearly labeled as part of the Underground Railroad movement, though unless you're looking for it you would probably miss it!
