FireWorks Restaurant
このサイトについて
Restaurant serving American comfort food with an international flare and a creative twist.
Each year, the restaurant recycles 20,000 pounds of glass and 7,200 gallons of used fryer oil. They also recycle newspaper, cardboard, tin and plastic. In addition, take-out containers are recyclable/made of recycled content and menus are printed on paper with recycled content.
The building itself is designed to meet LEED certification requirements, though certification has not been applied for. The restaurant contains a geothermal system that not only heats and cools the restaurant, but provides energy to heat and cool their neighbor, LincOne Credit Union. The geothermal system has reduced their energy consumption by 30%. Through smart window and overhang placement, the building is constructed to maximize passive solar energy which reduces the amount of energy required to illuminate the restaurant.
Lastly, the restaurant maintains a 5,400 square foot rain garden in their back yard. At the time of installation in 2010, it was the largest known rain garden in the state of Nebraska, with over 3,200 plants and 50 trees. Open to the public, the rain garden has access from the parking lot and Billy Wolff bicycle trail.
