The CSMVS (formerly known as the Prince of Wales Museum of Western India) is Mumbai's largest museum. While objects from different parts of Asia and Europe are housed inside, the museum building itself is a heritage structure, built by George Wittet, architect of the Gateway of India. The museum also houses a large natural History collection. The building sits on a 'crescent site', and in front one can see a garden that is home to various kinds of birds and insects. This garden is a haven from the noise of the car horns and the pollution given out by the exhaust fumes just outside its walls. The museum contains a closed-access library too.
