Anémone commune de la famille des renonculacées. On la rencontre dans les pelouses et les sous-bois clairs tels que les mélézins. La tige et les feuilles sont velues. Cette caractéristique est une adaptation de la plante pour se protéger du stress hydrique. La floraison a lieu durant le printemps, de mai à juillet.
