The Brooklyn Navy Yard, once known as America’s premier shipbuilding facility, is today known for so much more. It's home to many diverse businesses such as movie studios, furniture manufacturers, ship repairers, architectural designers, electronics distributors and jewelers. Managed by the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation (BNYDC), the Brooklyn Navy Yard is undergoing major revitalization with emphasis on environmental sustainability and preservation. Highlights include the nation's first multi-story, multi-tenanted green industrial building with the City's first building-mounted wind turbines. Five additional major new green industrial buildings and adaptive reuses of historic structures are in design.
