Rietfontein Nature Reserve
Overview
Rietfontein Nature Reserve is about 24km north of the city in the small suburb of Paulshof. This 25 hectare indigenous green space on a quartzite ridge evokes in all visitors a feeling of being in the country. It is also the site of the FreeMe Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. There is a short and easy walking trail that takes visitors to the top of the ridge and around the reserve (suitable for children) as well as a lovely picnic area. No open fires or dogs are allowed in the reserve. Be sure to look out for the resident duiker and blesbok in the reserve when you visit.

The Reserve is managed by Joburg City Parks and the volunteer body, Friends of Rietfontein, holds guided walks and events - to find out more, follow them on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/friendsofrietfontein
