33 Third Avenue
Powell House
Built in the 1890s by Edward L. Powell, a German immigrant plumbing engineer, this gabled house has a diagonal corner. Columns and gingerbread trim on the wraparound first floor porch are original, though siding and first floor stained glass probably are not. Powell drowned in 1898.

Streetscape: There are seven houses with towers on the eastern (uphill) side of the street between Ocean Boulevard and Mount Avenue.
