Hatteras Island Food Pantry
Overview
Located at the United Methodist Church in Buxton, the Hatteras Island Food Pantry serves clients referred by the Dare County Department of Social Services.
In the fiscal year ending July 2010, the pantry was used 2260 times helping people with more than 100,000 meals and assisting 183 families with medical and housing expenses.
The pantry conducts an annual food drive every fall, with many island businesses serving as drop-off points for donations of food, personal care products, and cleaning supplies. Monetary donations, with checks made out to United Methodist Men, should be mailed to Hatteras Island Food Pantry, PO Box 1591, Buxton, NC 27920.
