National Register Historic District
Overview
Over 300 Ocracoke homes, the Lighthouse, and other national landmarks are part of the National Register Historic District. Most of the historic structures can be found on about 200 acres surrounding Silver Lake Harbor. The Ocracoke Walking Tour and Guide Book, found in many shops throughout the island, is a good source for information as well as the Ocracoke Preservation Society.
