Brooklyn's Toren
Overview
Toren is in line to be among the first residential high-rises in Brooklyn to achieve L.E.E.D certification. Building consulting services were provided by E4, Inc. who claims it's "solidly on track for gold certification." A growing number of environmental friendly residential high-rises are turning to cogeneration (also called combined heat and power) to use natural resources more wisely. Toren will have its own cogeneration plant using only five, 100-kilowatt micro turbines to fuel much of the building's energy needs. In a unique twist, Toren will use the heat for cooling as well.
