Center of Old Chinatown
Übersicht
The corner of Mott and Pell Streets was the center of Old Chinatown. It is believed to have once contained a bulletin board and public address system that broadcast news to the residents of the community. When China was fighting the Japanese during the 1930's and 1940's, this corner became the area to distribute leaflets, hold rallies, and collect contributions for the war effort. Because news was best communicated through word of mouth during this period, many gathered at the corner of Mott and Pell Streets to listen to the news and discuss with other community members.
