Esta institución ubicada en la zona sub-urbana del municipio de Pereira por lo cual posee amplias zonas verdes, cultivos cafeteros, guaduales y todo el paisaje caracteristico de la zona cafetera. Gran parte de la población que estudia en el colegio, posee antecedentes rural y se educan para trabajar en las zonas rurales en un futuro, con el proyecto se estimula el reconocimiento de su biodiversidad ecologica y cultural.
Este proyecto fue desarrollado por el colectivo ambiental del colegio, conformado por estudiantes de todos los grados y profesores que lideran el PRAE (Proyectos Ambientales Educativos)
