Bron Afon Community Housing Ltd (Bron Afon) is an industrial and provident society providing housing with charitable rules. It was created as a 'Community Mutual' Association following a large scale voluntary transfer of over 8,000 properties from Torfaen County Borough Council on 31 March 2008. It is based in Llantarnam, Cwmbran.

The Association is a social enterprise which owns and manages general needs, sheltered, leasehold and shared ownership homes, along with a number of commercial properties located within Torfaen County Borough.

Bron Afon has just completed five years since transfer of the homes from the Council. This is a key milestone in delivering the 'transfer promises' it made to council tenants, as the basis on which the tenants were asked to consider voting to transfer the housing stock to it.

The Association provides repair and maintenance services through its own in house workforce, alongside a number of external contractors.

Bron Afon have 1000's homes in communities all over Torfaen. These homes are affordable and maintained to Welsh Housing Quality Standard.

You can apply for a home, apply for retirement housing or swap homes from or to a Bron Afon house.

Bron Afon is run as a mutual with automatic membership for all tenants. Teenagers living in a homeless people's hostel in the area were asked to help the Association tackle anti-social behaviour, to encourage young people to get involved in the community, and to suggest ways in which bridges could be built between old and young tenants. Proposed solutions were fully costed and are now being implemented with the continuing participation of the originators. Confidence and self-esteem has risen for all participants: 'This has been an amazing experience and made me realize what a difference I can make'; 'It's great that we are being taken seriously. I didn't think I could do this, but I did!'. This sharing of power of the Board of the association with its tenants is an example of 'co-production'.
