Cornell Suspension Bridge
Übersicht
The present bridge was built in 1960, opened for use January 7, 1961. It was designed by Professors S.C. Hollister and William McGuire. The first bridge was built during the 1880's, 500 feet upstream from the present site, behind Risley Hall. The bridge was slung low over the stream. The first bridge was replaced in 1913 by a suspension bridge at the site and height of the present one. The second bridge was declared unsafe and closed August, 1960. The present bridge is 138 ft., 3.5 in. above the water.
