LEED Certified Building -- Bishop John J. Snyder High School Addition
Overview
LEED certified 10-classrooms addition at Bishop John J. Snyder High School. First LEED® for Schools Certified project in the Southeast United States. LEED features include clay tile roof with high solar reflectance index to reduce heat gain, low-flow plumbing fixtures, recycled building materials and waste diversion from landfills. Approximately 10970 square feet.
In 1999 the High School Task Force concluded that Jacksonville and the surrounding area was in need of an additional Catholic high school. The studies showed that west Jacksonville was the ideal location. "The Opportunity of a Lifetime" capital campaign was launched and people throughout the Diocese generously contributed funds to build a new high school that would be dedicated to Bishop John J. Snyder.
Bishop John J. Snyder High School opened its doors on August 14, 2002 to seventy-four ninth graders. In 2006, we graduated our first class of seniors.
Founded in 2002 by Bishop Snyder, we are a co-educational, college preparatory high school operating in the Diocese of St. Augustine. Our mission of “competence, conscience and compassion” resonates throughout our school’s daily life from the college preparatory academic curriculum to fine arts and athletic opportunities.
