Montgomery Arboretum of Native Flora
Übersicht
The Montgomery Arboretum of Native Flora contains specimens of plants native to the United States east of the Mississippi River that will grow in Montgomery Township. There are natural areas, lawns, specimen trees with labels, shrubs, flowers, pathways, benches, and a porta-toilet. The entrance to the Arboretum is from the east side of the main parking lot of Montgomery Park, where you will find a kiosk with lists of trees, and leaflets that you may take with you on your walk, showing the paths and identifying trees. Please return your map when you are finished.
This Arboretum is managed by the Shade Tree Committee. In addition to planting trees, the committee has collaborated with the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association on stream bank restoration projects, and with the New Jersey Invasive Species Strike Team on invasive species removal efforts.
The Arboretum is intended as a showcase for native trees and shrubs, which you may see in all seasons. There are many beautiful but underused native trees. Please consider planting native trees and shrubs on your property.
The Montgomery Arboretum has a Memorial Tree program. Contact the Shade Tree Committee to donate money to have a tree planted and a sign installed in memory of someone you want to honor.
