Cider Mill Preserve
Size: 89 acres

Preserve Information: Cider Mill is a grassland habitat that supports NJ State listed threatened and endangered bird species, including bobolink, eastern meadowlark, savannah and grasshopper sparrows, American kestrel, northern harriers and short-eared owls. The site is surrounded by hundreds of acres of protected open space and farmland, offering an uninterrupted view down the valley to the Sourland Mountains. Unmarked mowed trails meander around the property.

History: The Cider Mill property was preserved in 2011 through a partnership between D&R Greenway Land Trust, East Amwell Township, Conservation Resources Inc., The Open Space Institute, Hunterdon County, and the State of New Jersey. The NJ State Division of Fish and Wildlife are part owners and co-managers of the property with D&R Greenway, and provide habitat management guidance.

Location: Cider Mill Road, East Amwell, NJ 08851

Directions: From the center of Hopewell Borough, take Greenwood Avenue (the road changes names to Hopewell-Wertsville and Rileyville Rd) north to the dead end with Wertsville Road and turn right. Proceed about a mile and a half then make a sharp left turn onto Welisewitz Road. Proceed about a half mile and turn right onto Cider Mill Road. The preserve is about a mile down the road at a sharp bend and street side parking is available.
