Impacts

The Vickery House serves as the state’s official center for the study of Appalachia, educating students and the community about southern Appalachian culture through art, history, music, and nature. The center is also part of NGSCU’s School of Education. They provide an active and vibrant learning environment and provide innovative opportunities for scholarship and service.
Ways they have been eco-friendly include:
• Recycling bins that specify between bottles, cans, plastics, etc.
• Paper towels in restrooms, but air dryers have been requested
• Added insulation to the attic and requested insulation for the walls to be more energy efficient
• Employees participate in carpooling and/or riding bicycles to and from work
• Post announcements through a few flyers, but mainly through e-mail
