Andrew Fenster's Food Forest/Mushroom Garden Permaculture Site
Übersicht
PLANT SECTION: A home-scale Permaculture garden containing Gooseberries, Black Currants, Success Serviceberries, Siberian Pea Shrubs, Strawberries as ground cover, some Tubers (Sunchokes and Purple Potatoes), and various annual veggies (Tomatoes, Eggplants, Squash, Cucumber, Broccoli, Brussels-Sprouts, and various types of Peppers.)
MUSHROOM SECTION: I am currently cultivating Shiitake, Maitake, Oyster, Reishi, Chicken of the Woods and Stropharia Wine Cap Mushrooms. All are on logs except the wine caps are on a bed of wood chips.
TECHNIQUE: I inoculated the floor of the food forest with Stropharia (wine cap) mushrooms as part of an experiment to see if the Stropharia will benefit the shrubs and herbs in the garden. Hopefully the Stropharia mycelial network will establish a mutualistic relationship with all of the plant roots and stimulate nutrient uptake, spur soil life biodiversity, aerate the soil, and hold it together better. Perhaps an increase in growth/productivity will occur above normal levels? I will inoculate the week of July 6th, 2009 and will post back results periodically.
