前身為日治時期實踐商業學校，創立於民國二十六年四月一日校址在屏東市勝利里。
民國三十二年改為屏東市工業專修學校。
民國三十五年三月一日奉令改為屏東市立初級工業職業學校
民國四十一年八月奉令改為屏東縣立初級工業職業學校
民國四十三年秋新舍落成校址在屏東市建國路25號
民國四十四年八月奉准辦理高級部
民國四十五年八月奉令改為屏東縣立屏東工業職業學校
民國五十年八月一日奉令改制校名為台灣省立屏東工業職業學校
