This lively market is a haven for foodies who can taste the Arab Israeli traditions of this fishing port through the numerous stalls, intimate eateries and restaurants found in the quarters narrow maze of cobblestoned streets. Hummus is a local specialty, as is freshly caught and simply grilled whole fish, malabi (a creamy milk based pudding perfumed with rose) and knafe (a traditional cheese pastry soaked in sweet syrup).
