St. Louis Composting is the region’s largest compost producer whose mission is to help make the world a little greener and reduce landfill waste by producing high-quality compost. Its four locations process roughly 500,000 cubic yards of green material annually – more than one-third of all yard waste generated in St. Louis County. They also partner with the cities of Kirkwood, Fenton and Valley Park, Mo. and Granite City, Il. on curbside green waste recycling programs.
While based in Valley Park, Mo., with a large composting facility that carries a line of STA-certified compost, topsoil and soil blends and a variety of mulches, St. Louis Composting has three other locations. A Metro East location just west of Belleville, Il. has a similar composting facility. A facility in Maryland Heights is a transfer station for neighborhoods in North and West St. Louis County and accepts yard waste including trees, limbs and brush.
