Chinook Honey Company started as a beekeeping hobby in 1995. At the time Art Andrews was just looking for something to provide relief from the stress of his full time job. His 2 hives soon expanded to 6, then 12 and now have blossomed to approximately 280. Art's passion for his bees was contagious, and it didn't take long before his wife Cherie started to accompany him to the beeyards and help out with the many bee 'chores'.

In June 2004 their enthusiasm for bees and the many wonderful products the bees provide took another step. Cherie and Art opened a retail store in their 'Honey House'. But this was not merely a place to buy honey - this was also a learning centre. The store now includes a live observation hive and an interpretive area where they conduct group tours or folks can drop in for an informative visit with the bees. Chinook Honey Company is located just minutes south of Calgary, near Okotoks. In addition to their wonderful natural honey they make specialty honeys with fruit, cinnamon, pumpkin and chocolate - just to name a few. Lovely beeswax candles are crafted on site and honey body care products, using Chinook Honey, are locally made and sold here. Apitherapy - the medicinal use of bee hive products - is a great way to prevent ailments or heal them in a natural way. Also a wide range of honey related gift items including honey teas make this a great shop if you are looking for something unique. And speaking of unique, you must try their delicious honey ice cream!

Art and Cherie Andrews now both work full time with their bees and at the store. They want to keep their apiary small and personal so that every visitor can expect the best service, top quality honey products and a unique learning experience. Come for a drive in the country!
