The Palisades Preservation Overlay District (aka PPOD), protects the Palisade cliffs. There are always concerns that the cliffs will crumble and that will happen if there isn't any protection. The PPOD provides that protection. The district, approved by the City Council in April 2001, allows for some development. But there are special regulations to ensure that the construction does not disturb the structure of the Palisade Cliffs and that the building is not high enough to block Heights residents' views.
