Grid-tied, battery backup solar-electric PV system mounted on attached garage roof. Backup supports house-critical loads: well pump, septic pump, refrigerator, computer systems, (oil-fired) hot water heater, microwave oven.
Also have rain barrels for garden water collection. Have stopped using our electric dryer in favor of a clothesline, either outside or in the basement during inclement weather.
