•CAN and the Pride Center began sharing office space at 895 North Main Street in Akron in January, 2010.
•Since 1998, the Akron Pride Center has been a staunch advocate for the well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people in Akron and its surrounding communities and counties by offering programs and events that draw strength from the collaborative talents and skills from individuals in the community.
•Community AIDS Network was established in 1996 and works to prevent the further transmission of HIV through education and risk reduction efforts and to provide housing assistance and other services to people already affected by HIV.
•For the remainder of 2010, staff, volunteers, and the community will be invited to participate in focus group activities to determine the needs and wishes of the LGBTQ community and will begin implementing new programming as funding is secured and programming is formally developed.
•Dawn Jones is the Director of both organizations.
•Pride Center Board Chair, Steven Antalvari stated "The Pride Center, in attempts to better serve our community, believes that this symbiotic relationship with CAN will greatly increase our ability to fulfill our mission and vision for the future of the LGBT Community of North East Ohio.”
