The small, admission-free Randall Museum is off the usual tourist route, but it is the perfect children's museum for families with younger kids. Their permanent Live Animal Exhibit offers animals rescued from the wild or born in captivity such as snakes, bats, turtles, raccoons, owls, mice, spiders, and bees. Parents might want to make sure they are there at noon when the animals get fed.The Randall Museum offers interactive programs emphasizing science, the natural environment, and San Francisco history for kindergarten (age 5) through senior citizen groups. Preschool groups are welcome to schedule self-guided tours via Brown Paper Tickets.
