Carrot Pond is so named because of it's shape which resembles (when viewed from above) a carrot. Originally it supplied water to the railways and is now owned by Network Rail. A beautiful pond that is sadly not very accessible, with steep banks on the way in and no paths or walkways inside. Walking boots and long trousers are recommended if you venture down there. The pond is full of fish and there are plenty of birds and insects too.
