The Munson-Williams Proctor Arts Institute, or MWPAI, is an art school, an art museum and a performing arts center. MWPAI is home to a permanent collection of around 20,000 pieces, as well as various pieces from temporary exhibits. Art classes, as well as classes in the performing arts, are offered for children, teens and adults. During the summer, MWPAI holds an art festival outdoors, including a sidewalk arts show and various children's activites. MWPAI offers the residents of Utica the chance to experience art by influential artists such as Dali and Picasso, as well as providing them with a creative outlet of their own.
