Acerca del Mapa Verde Abierto

Student Tour Guides will lead you through Fort Greene & surrounding neighborhoods. Areas visited along the way: A vision for the Brooklyn Greenway is an off-street, landscaped route with separate lanes for cyclists and pedestrians. Five miles of the greenway are in place including Flushing Avenue, Columbia Street and Brooklyn Bridge Park. Metro Tech is an urban university-industry science and technology park. The area includes major private enterprises, as well as Bridge Street Church, NYC College of Technology, the NYC Fire Department and Long Island University. Historical Districts of Clinton Hill & Fort Greene Mansions, in addition to Brownstones, were built in Clinton Hill in the 1880’s and 1890’s. Many can still be seen today along Clinton Aveune. The tree lined streets are a setting for Pratt Institute, St Joseph’s College and Mary’s Episcopal Church. Fort Greene Historic District is distinguished by rows of 3 and 4 story townhouses faced in sandstone. These buildings are nicknamed “Brownstones” because of the natural color of this material. The district includes 33-acre Fort Greene Park, designed by Frederick Law Olmstead and Calvert Vaux.
