This Bluff provides a great view of the Mississippi River valley. From the bluff view point we can see evidence of channel braiding going on in the river. Part of the DuPont Conservation Area, Missouri Department of Conservation. Notable features include side channels, riparian islands and forests, and floodplain. The site is surrounded by an oak forest. Dupont CA was once part of an ammunition manufacturing complex. During WW2 small factories in the hollows along the riverbank made small arms ammunition. They were isolated from each other to minimize the risks of catastrophic explosion.
